Test your Xfinity internet speeds with one click.
POWERED BY M-LAB
This test measures the connection to your current device, not the speed delivered directly to your gateway or modem.
This test uses Measurement Lab (M-Lab). M-Lab collects measurement data, including your public IP address, and makes test data publicly available. Read M-Lab’s Privacy Policy before starting.
This is an independent internet speed test and is not affiliated with Xfinity. It measures the connection to your device, not the speed delivered directly to your gateway.
What do the results mean?
- Download speed shows how quickly your device receives data. It affects streaming, browsing and downloads.
- Upload speed shows how quickly your device sends data. It matters for video calls, file uploads and backups.
- Ping is the time it takes for data to travel to the test server and back. A lower result usually means less delay.
Your result is a snapshot of this device, at this location, at this time. A Wi-Fi result may be lower than your plan speed even when the connection reaching your gateway is working as expected.
How to check your Xfinity speed more accurately
- Pause large downloads, uploads and streams on your network.
- Run the test near your gateway, then repeat it in the room where your connection feels slow.
- If possible, test a computer connected to the gateway by Ethernet.
- Repeat the test at another time of day and compare the results.
If Wi-Fi is slow but Ethernet performs better, check your home Wi-Fi setup. If repeated wired tests are also slow, use the Xfinity app’s Speed to Gateway test, where available, to investigate the connection reaching your gateway.
Why is my Xfinity speed lower than my plan speed?
Wi-Fi signal, device hardware, activity on other devices and the test server can all affect a device speed test. One low result does not tell you which part of the connection is causing the problem.
