Results show your device’s connection at the time of the test. WiFi signal, device capabilities, other network activity, and the test server can affect the numbers.

Understand your speed test results

• Download speed (Mbps): How quickly your device receives data for browsing, streaming, and downloading files.
• Upload speed (Mbps): How quickly it sends data during video calls, file uploads, and backups.
• Ping (ms): The delay between your device and the test server. Lower ping generally means a more responsive connection.

A faster download result does not automatically mean every activity will work well. If video calls are the problem, check upload speed too. If games feel delayed, look at ping. Our internet speed guide explains these measurements in more detail.

How to get a useful result

1. Pause large downloads, uploads, and streams on other devices.
2. Run the test where you normally use your phone or computer.
3. Repeat it near your router. If possible, also test a computer over Ethernet.
4. Compare results at different times if the connection slows down regularly.

A WiFi test measures the experience on that device; it does not directly measure the speed arriving at your modem or gateway. If Ethernet performs well but WiFi does not, start with your home network. See our slow WiFi troubleshooting guide.

Is my internet speed good enough?

That depends on what your household is doing at the same time. A single person browsing has different needs from several people streaming, gaming, and joining video calls. Use the result alongside your actual usage instead of judging it by one number alone.

Frequently asked questions

Does this test work with any internet provider?

Yes. It tests the connection on your current device, whether you use cable, fiber, DSL, mobile data, or another type of service.

Why did I get different results on two tests?

Network activity, WiFi coverage, your device, and conditions between you and the test server can change. Repeat the test before drawing a conclusion from one result.

Does a low result mean my provider is at fault?

Not necessarily. Compare WiFi with a wired test where possible, and check whether multiple devices have the same problem. That helps narrow down whether to investigate your home network or contact your provider.
